Mark Heine is a State-Certified Chief Fire Officer and a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program, with more than 40 years of public service in firefighting, emergency medical services, community risk reduction, and disaster response for North Bay communities. Heine currently serves as the Fire Chief of SCFD, where he provides strategic leadership for Operations, Community Risk Reduction, EMS, Training, Human Resources, and Finance. He previously held numerous ranks at Novato Fire Protection District over 32 years, including five years as Fire Chief. Heine's executive leadership emphasizes adaptive change through partnership, fostering strong labor-management relationships, mentorship of future leaders, community leadership, and persistent engagement with local government and non-governmental organizations. In addition to serving as Fire Chief, he is also the President-Elect of the California Fire Chiefs Association, Past-President of the Sonoma County Fire Chiefs Association, Chairperson of the Fire Service Working Group, and Director for Redwood Empire Communications (REDCOM).
